The new school year at Dai Nam University (DNU) does not begin with the familiar flag-raising ceremony or the opening drumbeat, but with a journey of Opening. Opening thoughts. Opening emotions. Opening oneself. That is the time when each cadre, lecturer, and staff member looks back at the educational mission, deeply connects with colleagues, and returns to the core question: "What do learners really need from us?"

From launch week to long-term vision

Prof. Dr., People's Teacher Luu Ngoc Hoat - Vice Principal, Director of the International Medical Training Institute, former Vice Principal of Hanoi Medical University shared: “The Opening Week was really useful. From the topic of Updating the Development Strategy by President Le Dac Son , the School Year Plan by Principal Dao Thi Thu Giang... to the topic of in-depth analysis of the portrait of Gen Z parents and students by Ms. Cao Thi Hoa - all were very practical. I was impressed by the strategy that was not only correct and clear, but also very feasible. And especially, we were able to look back at today's learners to 'teach and educate' them properly."

Associate Professor, Dr., Associate Professor Hoang Duc Hanh - Head of the Faculty of Medicine, former Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Health expressed: “This is the 4th year I have participated in the Opening Program of the school year of Dai Nam University. Every year, I clearly feel a further, more solid, more comprehensive step forward, true to the motto that the University always steadfastly pursues: 'For dedicated learners'. The program not only inspires but also shows an education system that is moving strongly, strategically, deeply and practically .”

Transforming Perception – Committing to Action

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Truong Duc Thao - Head of the Faculty of Business Administration & Marketing commented: “The Opening Week is not just a training session, but a step to transform the awareness of each lecturer. I highly appreciate the spirit of 'devotion to learners' throughout the entire program. For the Faculty of Business Administration & Marketing, this is an opportunity to review the training strategy, to train students better, more suitable to the rapid change of technology, AI, market…”

Dr. Nguyen Thi Diu – Deputy Head of the Faculty of Communication shared: “The opening week has become a beautiful cultural feature of DNU – where teachers sit, listen, share and learn. The content is very practical, close to teaching work, and at the same time helps me look back on my career journey more deeply. For me, this is a gentle but meaningful start to the new school year.”

Respect and gratitude for the “new home” – DNU

MSc. Luu Thi Hien - Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design said: “The program not only updates the domestic and international socio-economic situation, but also helps me better understand the development strategy, organizational culture and learner portrait. I really feel the dedication and positive energy from the Organizing Committee, speakers and departments. From there, I believe more and more that this school year will be a new step forward - deeper and more strategic . Respect and gratitude to the new home - DNU .”

No need to try to be like a student – just understand and accompany

MSc. Vu Ngoc Thang - Lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration & Marketing recounted a memory: “When listening to the topic on Gen Z portraits presented by Ms. Cao Thi Hoa , I sent a photo to the class group and asked the students: 'What generation do you think I belong to?' The students replied: 'Which generation is not important, what is important is that I always accompany you!' From that statement, I understood that: to connect with students, the most important thing is true understanding and companionship ."

Inspiring from the Heart – Redefining Action

MSc. Nguyen Thi Giang - Lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration & Marketing shared: “Mr. Le Dac Son does not talk much, but each word is a fire. Ms. Cao Thi Hoa helps me look back at students and parents in a profound way. Ms. Dao Thi Thu Giang gives clear, strategic directions like a compass. This week not only helps me know what to do but also wants to do it, voluntarily.”

Ms. Cao Thi Quynh - Head of Admissions Department expressed: "After the opening program, I adjusted the communication and admissions campaign with a clearer mindset. I like one thing the most: Communication is not talking to students - but talking with them."

“Full Charge” – Opening up a liberal education perspective

MSc. Ngo Ngoc Ha - Lecturer of the Faculty of Economics and Management shared: "I really feel 'recharged' after the opening week. The topics like the panorama help me look deeper into the domestic and international economic and political context through the presentations of former Deputy Minister Pham Quang Vinh and Dr. Vo Tri Thanh - macroeconomic expert . This week is like a flow of knowledge and inspiration, helping me to be ready to enter the new school year with a more excited and proactive mindset." .

Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan - Lecturer of the Faculty of Accounting said that she was especially impressed with the sharing from her colleagues at Dai Nam University .

"The 'Flipped Classroom' model of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien Huong (Faculty of Business Administration & Marketing), the process of implementing a class based on capacity development and technology integration of Dr. Le The Anh (Head of the Faculty of Accounting), and the experience of innovating teaching methods on the LMS platform in Political Theory subjects from Ms. Nguyen Thi Dang Thu (Deputy Head of the Department of Political Theory) - all are very practical and inspiring. In particular, the presentation on the foundation of building an AI Teaching Assistant by Mr. Truong Anh Hoang (Co-Director of the Institute of Technology) opened up for me a new perspective on the application of technology in modern education . These are not only professional or technical sharing, but also educational ideas worth pondering: putting learners at the center - not only in theory, but in the very act of teaching every day , " said Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Xuan.

Be "reset" to the right target, right meaning

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tam - Deputy Head of Quality Assurance Department shared: “Listening to the development strategy until 2047, I clearly see that what I do every day is part of a very big picture. I was especially impressed by the sharing about 'portrait of learners' - which made me startled: Are we really acting in the spirit of 'taking learners as the center'? I am determined to review every process, every indicator - so that everything is truly aimed at learners.”

When the home front is the launch pad for change

MSc. Pham Thi Dung – Head of the Human Resources Department confided: “My department does not directly teach, but the opening week helped me understand my mission more deeply. I felt the determination from my colleagues’ eyes, from the serious listening of the whole hall. We do not promise anything flashy – we only commit to doing it for real, doing it thoroughly, doing it to the end.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang - Principal: “The Opening Week is a call to each cadre, lecturer, and staff: Together we build the future of Dai Nam University. We do not only look back to understand the strategy, but also to look far ahead - at the goals that need to be realized together. There are many challenges ahead and even unexplored areas. But we are not alone. DNU will accompany us through academic forums, open discussions, learning opportunities... The strategy will only be theory without dedicated people. And I believe: Each teacher is an important link, a resource for creating change - proactive, steadfast, ready. Let's start the new school year not only with knowledge but also with a mindset of action, patience in overcoming difficulties, and determination not to stop.”
