Candidates registering for the exam must determine the purpose of taking the exam and register the exact number of subjects so that when integrating the exam block, it is suitable for the admission requirements of universities and colleges.

·On the morning of March 3, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a conference to disseminate exam regulations and deploy preparations for the 2015 national high school exam . Deputy Director of the Department of Testing and Education Quality Assessment (Ministry of Education) Tran Van Nghia answered questions from leaders of high schools in the area.
In response to the question about the exam registration period, Mr. Nghia said it will last for one month, from April 1 to before April 30. When filling out the application, candidates need to note that the purpose of taking the exam is to graduate from high school only, or to apply to universities and colleges, or both, and then check the corresponding box on the exam registration form.

Candidates must determine the exact subjects for the exam. If they are only considering graduation recognition, they must register for 4 subjects, including compulsory subjects including Math, Literature, Foreign Language and one elective subject. To apply for admission to universities and colleges, candidates must base on the admission regulations of the school they wish to study to choose the subjects for the exam.
For example, if a candidate plans to apply for admission to the A (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and A1 (Math, Physics, English) majors, he/she needs to register for 5 subjects, of which 3 are compulsory: Math, Literature, Foreign Language. If the elective subject for graduation is Physics, the additional elective subject is Chemistry or vice versa.
Candidates who graduated from high school in previous years (independent candidates) only need to register for exams used for admission to university and college majors.
Candidates can register for up to 8 subjects. Registering for more subjects will increase the chance of being considered for admission, but it is necessary to consider choosing the appropriate number of subjects to ensure the best exam preparation results.
When registering for the exam, information related to preferential admissions must be filled in accurately because schools have the right to refuse to accept or expel students due to errors in declaration.
For the four subjects used for graduation recognition, each subject must have a score greater than 1 point, and the average of the total scores of the subjects together with the incentive and priority points (if any) and the average score of the entire 12th grade year must be 5 points or higher to be recognized as high school graduation.
Mr. Nghia said that candidates will be able to reserve their results when they take enough subjects and get 5 points or more. The reserve is only effective for high school graduation, but if they want to apply to universities and colleges, candidates still have to take the exam.
The Deputy Director of the Examination Department also answered questions from school leaders about the time and method of university admission. Accordingly, the admission period will start from August, after the Ministry determines the input quality threshold.
In the first choice, students use the exam result certificate to register for a school with a maximum of 4 majors (or groups of majors) with priority order from 1 to 4. Schools update the school's admission registration data on the national admission data management system and every 3 days publish on the school's website the list of candidates registering for admission, arranged by exam results from highest to lowest. During that process, if candidates feel that they do not have many opportunities, they are allowed to withdraw their application and send it to another school for admission consideration.
Each student has 3 identical result sheets to use for additional admission rounds. At this time, students can apply to 3 schools at the same time, each school has a maximum of 4 majors, meaning they can register for 12 wishes. However, in the additional admission round, students are not allowed to withdraw their application as in the first wish.
"The 2015 exam is part of the high school curriculum, mainly grade 12. The essay test time for Math, Literature, History, and Geography is 180 minutes; the multiple choice test for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology is 90 minutes. Foreign languages will likely have multiple choice and essay tests. It is expected that around March 15, the Ministry will have instructions on implementing the regulations," said Mr. Nghia.
