Dai Nam University opens international doctor training program

In the 2025-2026 academic year, Dai Nam University (DNU) will launch a medical training program for international students, starting with a group of students from India.
This is a pioneer in Hanoi following the internationalization model of medical education, and at the same time contributing to positioning Vietnam as a potential destination for international students in this field.
Overview of Dai Nam University
Vietnam becomes a new choice in medical training
In the context of increasingly expanding global education, Vietnam is emerging as a new choice for international students, especially in the field of Medicine - a field of study with high requirements for training quality and investment costs.
In India, about 2.3 million candidates sit for the medical entrance exam each year, while the total number of places is only about 112,000. Tuition fees at private medical schools range from $8,400 to $31,000 per year, making it a major barrier for most students.
Meanwhile, Vietnam has advantages in reasonable costs, a stable political and social environment, and is increasingly improving the quality of training and services for international students.
Pioneering International Medical Program in Hanoi
Dai Nam University is the first non-public higher education institution in Hanoi to launch a medical training program in English exclusively for Indian students.
The program is designed according to international standards, with a 6-year study path, including 2 years of theory and 4 years of clinical practice at major hospitals in Hanoi.
The faculty includes doctors and professors from Vietnam and India. The tuition fee is around 5,000 USD/year - significantly lower than other Asian countries with similar programs.
Mr. Le Dac Lam - Vice Chairman of the Board of Dai Nam University - shared: "We identify this as not just a training program, but a long-term step in the internationalization strategy of education. The goal is to gradually turn Hanoi into a prestigious international medical training center in the region".
Comprehensive preparation for international students
In addition to the curriculum, the school invests in synchronous facilities, dormitories, living areas and supports international students. Students are supported with accommodation suitable for Indian culture, have a Vietnamese-Indian cultural orientation program, basic Vietnamese language classes and soft skills.
Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang - President of Dai Nam University said: "Studying abroad is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about adapting to a new environment. Therefore, we carefully prepare both the "hard" part such as facilities, and the "soft" part such as personalized support services so that students can study and develop with peace of mind."
Dai Nam University has coordinated with partners in India to implement enrollment, quality assessment and support students before - during - after the study process.

Ms. Deepa Ranganathan - representative of the Indian partner - commented: "Vietnam is a potential destination for medical training. We believe in the systematic training program, modern facilities and long-term development commitment of Dai Nam University. This is a suitable choice for many Indian students who dream of becoming doctors with reasonable financial conditions."
Vietnam is gradually making its mark on the international medical education map.
Although not yet a major regional medical center, Vietnam has a diverse hospital system, experienced medical staff and good practical training capabilities.
Students will have the opportunity to access real clinical environments from central to local levels - a necessary condition for developing professional capacity.
Previously, Can Tho University also successfully trained international medical students. Dai Nam University’s implementation of a similar program in Hanoi is a positive signal, contributing to the expansion of this model nationwide.
Ready for the next generation of international doctors
In the coming academic year, Dai Nam University will welcome its first batch of Indian students. The immediate goal is to enroll about 100 students, then continue to expand the scale according to actual needs.
The school is also promoting the construction of its own hospital to serve clinical training, research and medical examination and treatment.

Associate Professor, Dr. Dao Thi Thu Giang affirmed: “We are laying the foundation for a multinational medical training center in Vietnam. This is a long-term mission, demonstrating the school’s commitment to contributing to raising the position of Vietnamese education on the international map.”
The International Medical Program of Dai Nam University not only provides learning opportunities for foreign students, but also opens up a new direction for development of Vietnamese higher education. With thorough preparation and a clear vision, this can be a reference model for universities in the process of integration and internationalization of education.
