REGULATIONS ON MASTER'S THESIS
I. Choosing a master's thesis topic
The school encourages choosing thesis topics with a narrow research scope, associated with solving specific practical problems right at the agency or enterprise where the student is working.
II. Thesis assignment and implementation process
1. The Graduate Training Institute disseminates the thesis implementation plan and guides students in choosing and registering thesis topics . Students register topics by class and send them to the Graduate Training Institute within 15 days from the date of dissemination of the plan.
2. The Institute of Postgraduate Training approves the topics, assigns instructors and notifies lecturers and students 1 month after receiving the list of topic registrations from the classes.
3. Students meet with their supervisor to present their thesis topic and write a detailed outline. The supervisor will review the outline and guide the student to complete the thesis on schedule. In case the student requests to change the topic name, the student must write an application, have the supervisor confirm it on the application or confirm it via email, and submit it to the Graduate School within 1 month from the date the topic is assigned.
4. After the thesis completion deadline, the student submits an application for defense with confirmation from the supervisor to the Graduate Training Institute along with a scientific resume and 5 soft-cover thesis copies in Times New Roman font, size 14.
5. Dai Nam University organizes thesis defense within 15 days of receiving the student's thesis defense application.
6. After defending the thesis, the student edits the thesis according to the Council's requirements. After completing the thesis, the student submits to the Dai Nam University library 1 thesis book, 1 CD (recording the thesis), and submits to the Graduate Training Institute 1 thesis book and 1 CD (recording the thesis) to complete the diploma issuance procedure.
III. Thesis content
The content of the master's thesis must be related to a specific agency, unit, or enterprise; must demonstrate theoretical and practical knowledge in the specialized field, and propose methods to solve the problem. The results of the thesis must demonstrate that the author knows how to apply research methods and knowledge acquired during the learning process. The research results in the thesis must be the result of the student's own work (author), not published in any other research work, and not copied.
IV. Thesis size and structure
- Thesis has a capacity of 60 to 70 pages (except for theses using quantitative research methods)
- Structure of the thesis:

V. Thesis presentation format
- Font : The thesis uses VnTime font (or Times New Roman ) size 14, Winword editing system or equivalent; normal font density, do not compress or stretch the space between letters; line spacing set at 1.5 lines; top margin 3.5cm; bottom margin 3cm; left margin 3.5cm; right margin 2cm. Page numbers are typed in the middle, below each page. If there are tables or drawings presented horizontally, the top of the table is the left margin of the page, but this should be limited.
The thesis is printed on one side of white A4 paper (210x297 mm).
- Subsections : The subsections of the thesis are presented and numbered in groups of digits, consisting of a maximum of 4 digits with the first number indicating the chapter number (for example 4.1.2.1. indicates subsection 1 group of subsections 2 section 1 chapter 4). In each group of subsections there must be at least two subsections, meaning that there cannot be subsection 2.1.1 without the following subsection 2.1.2.
- Tables, figures, equations: The numbering of tables, figures, and equations must be associated with the chapter number; for example, Figure 3.4 means the 4th figure in Chapter 3. All tables and figures taken from other sources must be fully cited, for example “Source: Ministry of Finance 1996). The cited source must be listed accurately in the References list. The title of the table is above the table, the title of the figure is below the figure.
- Abbreviations: Do not overuse abbreviations in your thesis. Only abbreviate words, phrases or terms that are used repeatedly in your thesis. Do not abbreviate long phrases or clauses; do not abbreviate phrases that rarely appear in your thesis. If you need to abbreviate words, terms, agency names, organizations, etc., they must be abbreviated after the first time, with the abbreviation in parentheses. If your thesis has many abbreviations, there must be a list of abbreviations (arranged in alphabetical order) at the beginning of your thesis. Abbreviations of foreign terms and phrases must follow international regulations.
- How to cite references: Citations must be in the order of the document in the References list and placed in square brackets, when necessary including page numbers, for example [ 16, pp.314-315 ] . For parts cited from many different documents, the numbers of those documents are placed in the same square brackets, in ascending order, for example [ 5, 21, 49 ] . For consecutive documents, use hyphens between the order numbers of the cited documents, for example [ 7-11 ] .
- Appendix: The appendix includes necessary content to illustrate or supplement the content of the thesis such as data, forms, pictures, etc. If the thesis uses answers to a questionnaire, this sample questionnaire must be included in the Appendix in the original form used for the investigation and opinion poll; it must not be summarized or modified. Sample calculations presented in the tables must also be included in the thesis Appendix. The appendix must not be thicker than the main part of the thesis.
