The studio lights came on. Tens of thousands of people watched the livestream in front of the screen. Behind the screen, data constantly fluctuated: views, conversion rates, orders, revenue, customer comments... Amidst this whirlwind, Tran Bach Duong simultaneously introduced products and made decisions within seconds: changing the presentation style, altering offers, adjusting the sales pace, or switching to a different product. Each decision could directly impact the revenue of the entire broadcast.

Few would guess that the young woman running livestream sessions generating hundreds of millions of dong in revenue graduated from the E-commerce department at Dai Nam University less than a year ago. But for Duong, today's success didn't begin with her business. It started from her first days in university.

Going to university is not just about getting a degree.

From her first year, Duong set a principle for herself: university is not a time to wait for a degree, but four years to prepare her skills.

Outside of class, female students actively participate in scientific research, club activities, specialized competitions, and practical projects. Each experience is an opportunity to test what they learn in the classroom against real-world business and market challenges.

In their third year, Duong's team made it to the Top 5 of the Social Innovation Launch competition with their idea of building a platform for exchanging food nearing its expiration date. Following that, they won Third Prize in the 2024 Conquer the Recruiter competition and secured a spot in the semi-finals of the 2024 Digital Business Innovation Challenge with their project developing an e-commerce website for businesses.

In parallel, Duong also won the Encouragement Award for scientific research at the school level with a topic on the impact of e-commerce livestreaming on the green consumption intentions of Gen Z.

Looking back, Duong believes that the greatest value from those activities did not lie in the awards.

These include a research mindset, teamwork skills, problem-solving abilities, and a habit of continuous learning—qualities that businesses are always looking for in a rapidly changing market.

When businesses make their debut even before graduation.

A turning point in Tran Bach Duong's journey came during her second year's summer internship.

After completing her internship at KCAVINA Group, the female student was awarded a scholarship and offered a job contract by the company. From an internship experience, Duong officially became part of the company while still attending university.

By the end of her third year, when many students were preparing for their graduation internships, Duong was already a full-time employee earning nearly 20 million VND per month. This also means that before receiving her university degree, she had almost three years of work experience in a corporate environment.

According to Duong, the period of studying and working simultaneously helped her significantly bridge the gap between theory and practice.

"I hardly had to relearn anything when I started working. Knowledge of digital marketing, SEO, data analysis, and customer behavior was all directly applied to my daily work. The only difference was the scale and speed."

Gaining practical work experience from an early age helped Duong better understand the demands of the labor market and realize the value of the knowledge acquired in the classroom.

Behind the scenes of those million-dollar livestream sessions.

After graduating with distinction in E-commerce from Dai Nam University, Tran Bach Duong joined Fani Import-Export Trading Company Limited.

Starting as a Live Assistant, she was responsible for supporting the operation of live sales sessions. After only two months, Duong was voted the Outstanding Live Assistant for consistently contributing to broadcasts that generated tens of millions of VND in revenue each day. Six months later, she was entrusted with the position of Main Livestreamer and VJ.

According to Duong, behind a successful livestream session is not just communication skills or confidence in front of the camera.

The operator must constantly monitor real-time data, analyze customer behavior, optimize conversion rates, adjust sales scripts, and coordinate with the entire team to handle any unforeseen situations that arise during the live stream. Every decision is made in seconds but can directly impact the revenue of the entire livestream session.

That's also why Duong believes that the knowledge she gained during her university studies, from Digital Marketing, SEO, data analysis to consumer behavior, helped her quickly adapt to the work environment and take on increasingly demanding positions.

As AI redefines e-commerce

Tran Bach Duong's story reflects a reality of today's labor market: e-commerce is no longer simply about selling goods on digital platforms.

The development of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, automation, and the digital economy is changing how businesses approach customers, build marketing strategies, and operate their businesses. This has led to increasingly high demands on human resources.

Businesses are no longer looking for people who only know how to operate an online store. Instead, they need personnel with business acumen, data analysis skills, mastery of digital marketing, application of AI, understanding of consumer behavior, and a willingness to adapt to the constantly changing market.

This is also the training orientation of the E-commerce major at Dai Nam University. Besides specialized knowledge, students participate in practical projects, scientific research, and internships at businesses from an early stage, honing their problem-solving skills in a real-world business environment.

The goal of the training program is not only to help students find employment after graduation, but also to equip them with the skills for sustainable development in a constantly evolving and innovative field.

The value of a university is affirmed by its students.

On the day she received her diploma with distinction, Tran Bach Duong didn't see it as the end of her four years of university, but rather as a milestone that opened up a new career journey.

Today, as she gradually establishes her capabilities in the field of e-commerce, she understands that the most valuable thing a university degree provides is not just specialized knowledge or a degree, but also the ability to learn, adapt, and create value in a rapidly changing work environment.

Duong's story also serves as proof of the educational philosophy pursued by Dai Nam University: the quality of an educational environment is not only measured by the curriculum or facilities, but also affirmed by the competence of its students when they enter the labor market.

When students can adapt quickly, create value for businesses, and continue to develop after graduation, that is the most convincing evidence of the effectiveness of the training process.

In 2026, Dai Nam University will recruit students for the E-commerce major through four methods:

1. Consider the scores from the 2026 high school graduation exam.

2. Consideration of high school transcripts.

3. Direct admission according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.

4. Review the results of the competency assessment and thinking skills assessment (HSA) exam.

Accompanying new students is a system of practical policies aimed at helping learners feel secure in their studies and development:

- 100% of students are connected with jobs through the partner company network.

- A scholarship fund of 55 billion VND with many scholarship programs for new students.

- Study within a nearly 10-hectare university complex featuring modern lecture halls, laboratories, and learning spaces.

- Over 1,300 faculty members, lecturers, and staff members accompany and support students throughout their studies.

- We are committed to not increasing tuition fees throughout the entire course, helping parents and students proactively plan their finances.
