From a sudden "turnaround" to 8 scholarships: The secret is choosing the right major, the right person

Once a Biology major at Son La High School for the Gifted, Dao Tran Bao Ngoc unexpectedly changed direction from Medicine to pursue Multimedia Communications at Dai Nam University. From that courageous turn, Ngoc became the valedictorian, won 8 consecutive scholarships, achieved 9.0 in her graduation thesis and left an outstanding mark in all professional and creative activities.
Fate from a bold choice
Born and raised in Son La, a student in the Biology class of Son La High School for the Gifted, I was oriented to follow my family's career in the medical field. With outstanding academic achievements, I was the hope of my whole family - to become a doctor. However, the more I studied, the more I felt that I did not really belong to the world of biology. I began to realize that my interests were leaning towards very different things, such as the way a story is told through images, through words, or the power of a media campaign to touch people's emotions.
Dao Tran Bao Ngoc - a girl from Son La courageously changed her career path from Medicine to pursue her passion for Multimedia Communications, and won a scholarship as valedictorian at Dai Nam University.
The decision to choose Dai Nam University, majoring in Multimedia Communications, was a brave turn. And then, it seemed like the universe nodded in agreement with that choice. I excellently won the scholarship as the valedictorian, starting a brilliant journey at the new school, where I gradually found myself.
Steady from the first steps
4 years of university is not only a time to learn knowledge, but also a journey of continuous discovery, experience and affirmation of personal values. I won 8 out of 8 scholarships, and am also the Head of Social Media Communication of PMI Communication Club, a professional club under the Faculty of Communication. Here, I participated in building brand identities for many internal programs, in charge of designing images for professional campaigns, annual events and community activities.
I came up with ideas and implemented booth designs for extracurricular activities, contributing to creating a creative mark for the group. In particular, during the two years of accompanying the program "FOC - 1 year in review" of the Faculty of Communication, I was in charge of designing and producing communication publications for the entire series of activities. Solid professional capacity, good organizational ability and multi-dimensional content thinking have helped me become a positive factor in all activities.
The most memorable thing during my study journey was probably my graduation thesis which scored 9.0 points and received direct compliments from the Council's reviewer: "This is not just a normal graduation thesis, but more like a research paper at a higher level."
It is not only a professional recognition, but also a reward for the hard work, perseverance and belief that I have always kept for 4 years, as long as I choose the right direction, all efforts will be rewarded.
Media, where passion and scientific thinking meet
It seems that Media and Biology are two completely different worlds. But for me, systematic thinking and logical analysis ability from a natural science foundation have become advantages that help me implement methodical, accurate and effective media projects. Continuously learning tools and skills in design, filmmaking, and social media platform management, I strive to become a versatile student who knows how to utilize all resources to enhance media content.
Media is a way for me to tell the stories I believe in, in many different forms, from images, videos to words.
With the knowledge and skills I have accumulated, I am ready to embark on a new journey, more professional and more challenging. Although there are many forks in the road ahead, this little girl from the Northwest highlands has a solid foundation to continue going further, with passion, knowledge and resilience.
